Sandiaga Explains the Promise of the Prabowo Campaign to Stop Imports

Kolom Fakta. Candidate for vice president (vice president) Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno explained the intentions of the presidential candidate (presidential candidate) Prabowo Subianto eliminated imports if later elected president. Sandiaga did not deny that imports were still needed in a number of sectors which were considered to be lacking in domestic production.

"We must be realistic, now the source of production has not been made an approach that is in favor of increasing our production sources," Sandi said in Jakarta on Wednesday.
According to him, what currently needs to be addressed is data relating to the source of production first. Sandi said that with the big data it would appear that the production produced was sufficient or not.

"We do not want to because we cannot provide the products, the supply does not exist, the prices soar. We do not want to burden the community," he said.
Meanwhile for domestic-produced sources there needs to be strengthening. Sandiaga also shared his experience when visiting Gorontalo.

"They are corn provinces, they give advice that we focus on developing corn agriculture in several provinces with food clusters, with a technology approach, we can be self-sufficient, we don't need to import," he explained.

Sandiaga emphasized that strengthening in agricultural resources was what Prabowo wanted - Sandiaga to do in the government later if elected. Policies to import are not wrong to do if there are products that cannot be produced domestically.

"But what we can produce ourselves, why do we have to import? Why don't we focus on strengthening ourselves," said the former Jakarta governor

Prabowo in his political speech promised not to import anything if he was elected president in the 2019 Presidential Election. This was conveyed by Prabowo when addressing the Tabligh Akbar participants and the Declaration of Command of the Winning Ulama of Prabowo Sandi (Kopassandi) at GOR Soemantri Brodjonegoro, Kuningan, South Jakarta, Sunday ( 4/11).

"I testify here that God willing, I will accept the mandate of the people of Indonesia, I will make Indonesia stand on our own feet. We will not import anything, brethren. We must and we are capable of self-sufficiency in food," Prabowo said.

Not only food, Prabowo also called for energy self-sufficiency if he became president. "We also have to be able and capable of self-sufficiency in energy, self-sufficiency in fuel. We don't need to import 1.3 million barrels every day. We don't need to send 30 billion dollars every year abroad just to pay for fuel," he said.
